Men's lacrosse is a highly physical sport where players face constant risk of contusions and fractures from stick impacts to the wrist and thumb. Gloves play a vital role in protection, but current designs often compromise mobility for safety leading to player’s dissatisfaction. Through player interviews and market research, key issues surfaced: limited articulation, inadequate ventilation, and rapid wear in high-contact areas like the palms. The challenge was to create gloves that provide superior protection and durability without sacrificing freedom of movement. My solution integrates a visco-elastic foam brace that absorbs impact while allowing natural motion. This allowed for more enhanced ventilation to maintain comfort throughout the game.
